Peer-led Photography*

(Morning Elective)+

For our photography elective this year we're trying something a little different.  Rather than engaging an expert to teach the skills and techniques of photography, we're instead creating an opportunity for those with some photographic ability to come together to do what they love most: getting out and about in the amazing Tasmanian landscape in search of those once-in-a-lifetime shots that you know are just out there waiting... for you.  This is 'Retreat Mode' for photographers!

This group of 'peers' will join forces and share their love of photography with each other.  As well as having fun checking out each others' gear and sharing tips etc, the group will have daily opportunities to travel out from Poatina by foot and/or by vehicle to areas it chooses to explore.  Whilst the official elective time is from 9am until morning tea time, members will be free to rise early to catch the dawn light, and may also choose 'Retreat Mode' or 'Mix it Up' if they desire further flexibility in the afternoons to continue their photographic work.

You will need to bring your own camera and any other photographic equipment you wish to use such as a laptop for processing.  You may also wish to bring your bushwalking gear.  There will be a space allocated as a 'home base' and a vehicle provided for outings.  A local Poatina photographer, Ian I'Anson, has agreed to act as the group's facilitator and is ready to guide the group to a number of great local spots if desired.

* Please note that whilst there is no requirement for any particular level of skill or equipment to participate, that this is not a taught elective. Other members of the group will be focussed on their own photographic work and not in a position to teach you basic techniques if you do not have sufficient photographic experience or equipment to work independently as part of this group.  You may also wish to consider the Contemplative Photography elective running in the afternoons either as a complementary elective along side this one, or perhaps instead if you feel it better suits your needs.

+ Whilst listed as a 'Morning Elective', it is very likely that some members of the group will choose to rise early and/or work in the late afternoon/early evening in order to take advantage of the best lighting conditions.  There is no obligation however to work outside of the normal elective times. Minimum and maximum registration numbers apply to all electives with places awarded on a first come first served basis. Please ensure that you have indicated a second choice for both Morning and Afternoon Electives when registering online in case your first choice is unavailable.
