Silversmithing

Rings and Silver Things

(Combined Morning and Afternoon Elective)**

Explore the use of silver wire to make a range of things.  Forming, drawing down wire,  twisting and shaping wire to make rings, chains, ear rings and other creative wearable pieces.  This workshop will take a different form to our last successful Silversmithing sessions at FATA, teaching very different skills and developing participants competence in the use of precious metals.

* Please note this elective attracts an additional fee of $160 per person to help cover the costs of silver and expendables. When registering online, please make sure to select the add-on Silversmithing elective fee.

Russell McKane is a resident Silversmith at Poatina where he has his own studio and teaches silver to students of Capstone College.  This has enabled him to develop the teaching space we will be using. Russell majored in Silversmithing at RCAE, now Charles Sturt University. His own practice is exploring the use of different metals and minerals in combination with silver to create stunning wearable art.  https://www.facebook.com/artrussellmckane/

** Please note, due to the processes involved, Silversmithing is an integrated Morning and Afternoon Elective, with workshops running across both elective lines. Please ensure that you select Silversmithing for BOTH Morning and Afternoon Elective lines when registering online for this elective.

Minimum and maximum registration numbers apply to all electives. Please ensure that you have indicated a second choice for both Morning and Afternoon Electives when registering online in case your first choice is unavailable.
